Portal thing

Another 4 hour background piece for class, though I spent a bit more time testing out colors, so it feels slightly rougher than the last one. The setting of the other two thumbnails might've made for more unique environments, but I really liked the atmosphere of the one I picked in the end. I tend to prefer pieces with interesting moods or lighting, since even the most mundane scenes can feel magical with the right light. But I feel like I could've gotten more out of the initial concept if I had spent some more time on planning and had been more adamant about keeping the surrounding more alien looking, rather than settling with the familiar forest setting.
